Scholarships

Bethel is pleased to provide a scholarship for those people considering attending an ELCA Lutheran College education. If you are a Bethel member and are enrolled in an ELCA Lutheran College, you can qualify for $1,500 towards your school tuition (usually paid out over 3 terms). Please contact Dona Meyer for further information at 608.257.3577 x225 or dona@bethel-madison.org or by mail at 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison WI 53703.

Please include information on when you are starting, what school you are planning on attending and what your major is. (Scholarship payments start in August of the school year)

The Cephas C Johnson Scholarship Fund is administrated by the Bethel Lutheran Church Endowment Foundation. It was established in response to a desire by the donor to encourage worthy young people to pursue a career as Pastor in the American Lutheran Church or its successor Church (ELCA). This applies to applicants on an MDIV or MADM track, seeking ordination to rostered leadership in the ELCA.

Masters of Divinity/Word & Sacrament or Masters of Art in Diaconal Ministry/Word & Service

The Cephas Johnson Seminary Scholarship Fund is available to Dane County residents who are a member of a Dane County ELCA church, and members of our two partner churches (Hephatha in Milwaukee and Bethel in Dorado Puerto Rico) and are attending a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on an ordination track. All application forms (and subsequent letters as part of the application) need to be received by Bethel Lutheran Church Endowment Foundation, Inc. no later than April 15 of the year you are attending school for the fall semester. The Internship year, which typically is the third year, is not supported by this tuition scholarship program, as no tuition is due. All scholarship monies are split between the semesters are paid directly to the ELCA seminary, in the name of the recipient.
