“Mathew 25:35 says ‘I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.’ Serving in the food pantry allows me to live out this gospel in the easiest most simple way. All I have to do is show up, greet people who need to come, and hand out food! How great is that?” – Ruth
Bethel’s Food Pantry is a volunteer led organization which operates completely off donated funds. The pantry is open Monday-Friday, Noon-3pm, and receives food deliveries from Second Harvest Foodbank on Thursday mornings. If you would like to help staff or stock the pantry, or have questions about becoming a team member, please contact the Pantry Volunteer Coordinator by email or leave a message with the Bethel receptionist 608.257.3577.
Bethel’s Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday Noon-3pm. Call 608.257.3577 after 9am on the same day you plan to use the pantry. You must call ahead to register.
The Pantry will be open on Saturdays, 9:30-11:30am. Call between 2-5pm on the Friday before to schedule an appointment.
The Food Pantry serves about 250 households (750 people) each month. We register 12 families per day; first called, first served. You may use the Pantry once a calendar month. For example, if you use the Pantry on Aug 10, the next time you would be eligible to use the Pantry is Sept 10 the following month. Check in at the Reception desk, upstairs from the parking lot entrance.
The Bethel Food Pantry collects specific items each month that are in high demand, quickly depleted and/or hard to get through food bank resources. Please donate in the barrel located at the top of the stairs on the Worship Level!
December: Bar Soap and Deodorant January: Toilet Paper February: Toothbrushes
The pantry rarely has laundry detergent to give to guests. A lady came in Wednesday, said she has a two-week-old and four other kids at home, and she does a lot of laundry. Cash is short until payday, she explained. She said she had a full bottle of laundry liquid detergent on the washer, but the machine was running and vibrating and the bottle fell, spilling the liquid all over the floor. She said she was so upset she just cried and cried.
For over 10 years, a delivery person arrives at the Bethel Pantry and delivers anywhere from 4-6 bags of groceries. The donor wishes to remain anonymous. Since we cannot directly thank the donor we want to use the website to express our gratitude in this open letter.
