Bethel Lutheran Church is a community of people with a wide range of interests and skills. We welcome the ability to partner with our friends & families to provide services to, not only our campus and congregation, but our surrounding neighbors as well.
Volunteer opportunities can be found by contacting your favorite Bethel staff member and offering your talents, by completing your myBethel ‘Serving’ information, or by selecting from our ever changing menu of volunteer positions. Short-term and long-term commitments are available and helping hands of all ages are welcome.
James Drews is looking for volunteers for 7:45am and 9am worship times on Sundays to mange the sound system control board. James will provide adequate training to help you know how to turn the microphones on and off at appropriate times, as well as controlling the volume of those microphones. These are the basics, and if you are willing to learn more, he will teach you! Major qualifications are simply a willingness to learn and the reliability to show up when you are scheduled. This is a great opportunity for high schoolers to learn a new skill to take with them moving forward.
Help someone find life-changing employment! The Catholic Multicultural Center (1862 Beld St.) is seeking bilingual (English and Spanish) volunteers to assist individuals through its employment search assistance program. Volunteers work one-on-one with job seekers to help with writing resumes, filling out job applications, using the computer for job searches, and more. Training is provided. Volunteers are needed two to three hours a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 9am to 3pm.
What is Canyon Scholars?
Canyon Scholars is an international program that originated at Bethel and now has sponsors throughout the United States, Canada, and in Australia. Since its inception in 2000, 564 youth have participated, and are participating, so that we now have university graduates, one of whom as a lawyer received an award from the Mexican government for her advocacy work on behalf of the Tarahumara Indians. Canyon Scholars is concrete evidence of the global influence of Bethel.
Volunteers needed at Oakwood Village University Woods Retirement Community, 6209 Mineral Point Rd, for the Oakleaf Gift Shop and Oakleaf Cafe. Volunteers would have a 3 hour shift (Mon-Sat). Training is provided and scheduling is flexible/negotiable. Interested persons need to make a 6-month commitment. Minimum age for teen volunteers is 15 years old.

Sunday morning volunteer worship teams are vital to providing a smooth-running and enjoyable worship service. Serving in one of these ministries can enrich your faith and connect you with other members. If you are interested in more information or shadowing someone to see if you would like to join a group, please contact Lisa Huber.
Bethel’s nursery is located off of the Fireside Room (lower level) in room 21. Features include natural sunlight, restroom facilities, toys, and a secure environment. The nursery is staffed on Sundays from 8:30am-12:30pm. Volunteers assist the staff at the 9am service from September through May.
Sunday Receptionist needed for the first Sunday of the month from 8:45-10am and the fourth Sunday of the month from 7:45-8:45am. Skills Needed: a friendly smile, a Servant Heart; Helpful, friendly attitude. Duties: Assist people who visit the reception desk. Have knowledge of the facility and events at Bethel. Answer phone calls.
Volunteers are needed to help in a bright, sunny environment helping extraordinary people check out materials from Bethel’s library. No prior experience is necessary. There are two shifts to choose from 8:45-10:15am or 10:15-11:45am.

Donate your time. Respect is key in this community and can often be gained in one conversation. Relationships are the core of this program and what make the most difference in helping someone achieve independence, sobriety, housing, or employment. Stop by during the week to say hello, sip a cup of coffee, and enjoy the community.
Monetary support is always appreciated as we continue to recognize great needs in this community. Funding supports Tuesday lunches, the annual Horizon retreat, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, as well as bus passes, eye glasses, medical care, and more.
