I am happy to join in service at Bethel as a visitation/bridge pastor. I began my work on July 12 and will be here for a while until you get settled in with your new lead pastor. My title is a hybrid one, combining the visitation of parishioners that is important for the ongoing ministry of Bethel and serving during this bridge time until your newly called lead pastor arrives. I particularly like the word bridge, because it leads from something and goes to something brand new.
Jeff is the Tuesday through Saturday custodian here at Bethel and has been on staff since 2009. He started attending Bethel in 1978, he and his wife Maureen were marred here in 1980 and they have two children who were baptized here (Ben & Marta). Jeff is active in the Bethel Choir, serves on the Bethel Idea Parking Committee as well as the Resettlement Ministry. While you may see Jeff working in any part of the Bethel campus Monday through Friday he has a primary responsibility for the lower level.
I’m from Madison originally and outside of some time spent in Minneapolis, have lived here my entire life. I met my wife Kayse doing theatre in Sun Prairie and we have been married 9 years. No children, but we have plenty of nephews and nieces. We enjoy traveling and are planning a trip to Italy next year.
Due to commitments Pam Shellberg has to her current position in Maine, she will not begin at Bethel until January of 2019. So we also get to welcome an Interim Director of Lifelong Faith Formation, Bethel’s own Cindy Terhune Melrose.
Pam is a highly regarded teacher whose career has reached from teaching elementary children in Monona to seminary students in Maine to adults in congregations. She has a BA in Elementary/Special Education from Carthage College, an MS in Educational Psychology from UW-Madison and a PhD in Religious Studies from Marquette University. She is also certified in Spiritual Direction.
