Prefer to swing a golf club rather than a hammer? No problem – come play!
Bethel’s Serving Team is hosting the 17th annual Circle of Love Golf Outing on Mon, Sept 24 at Blackhawk Country Club. The team is very excited about the fundraiser which will be used to help build a home for one for Bethel’s Bhutanese families through Habitat for Humanity. The registration fee of $125 covers a cookout lunch, 18 holes of golf, followed by dinner and the program. All money donated above that amount goes directly to the project and is tax deductible.
Since 2000, Bethel’s Circle of Love Project has sponsored children from a community center in Borodyanka, Ukraine, which is near the site of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Eight children, an interpreter and chaperone spend 6 weeks during the summer in Madison with host families from Bethel’s congregation. Medical, dental and vision care, English lessons and outdoor opportunities are provided.
Each year in the cold of winter about 20 Bethel people travel to our sister congregation in Puerto Rico, Bethel Lutheran of Dorado, and work with them and the Lutheran synod of Puerto Rico. It is a popular, rewarding, and fun trip. For more information about this opportunity contact Sandy Ripp at firstname.lastname@example.org.
