Bethel's Faithful Future Fall Workshop

November 19, 2011

Youth ministry has changed. Children's ministry has changed. The culture has changed. And the church is called to foster a faith that matters within our young people. What does this calling mean for us at Bethel?

Professors Terri Elton and Tim Coltvet from Luther Seminary will lead a Saturday workshop to lay out key findings of Exemplary Youth Ministry study, explore what this means for Bethel, and begin mapping Bethel's assets for moving into the future. Child care available.

Workshop from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with lunch

Strategy session (optional) from 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Youth Ministry exists to reach non-believing students as well as believing students in order to connect them with other Christians, to help them grow in their faith, to discover their ministry and praise God with their lives.

I'm Anita Grue, the Youth Ministry Coordinator in Room 228 on the second floor of Bethel, and I invite the youth to drop in anytime. My door is always open or I can be reached at 257-3577 x 344 or agrue@bethel-madison.org

Youth ministry is about families and relationships. Faith is formed in personal trusted relationships and it usually happens in the home. Youth ministry will nurture healthy family relations and help households consider their values, meaning, and hope that will lead them into a faith-filled future. Through research done at The Youth and Family Institute of Augsburg College, it is evident that there are four keys that can nurture healthy relationships and faith. Those keys are caring conversations, family rituals and traditions, family devotional life, and intergenerational service to others that convey the beliefs, values, and lifestyle of their home.

These four keys have become the new way to provide youth and family ministry in congregations.
