Weddings

We rejoice with you on your upcoming wedding and welcome the opportunity to plan with you for a Christian wedding. Our team consists of the Bethel Pastors, Minister of Liturgical Worship, Wedding Coordinator, and you!

A Christian wedding takes place within a service of worship. Wedding planning is done with careful and prayerful consideration. The joy of the marriage ceremony is reflected in the prayers, praise, and thanksgiving of those who come together for this special occasion.

Bethel performs weddings for members and non-members.

Planning Your Wedding at Bethel

The first step for a wedding at Bethel is to fill out the Wedding Reservation Request Form (below), then contact Dona Meyer at 608.257.3577 ext 225. She will help secure the date for use of our Sanctuary. This must be done before you reserve a reception venue, photographer, or musicians. Bethel’s Sanctuary is available for weddings on Saturdays at 12:30pm and 3:30pm, and on some Fridays and Sundays. Our Sanctuary accommodates over 800 people. Rehearsals are scheduled on Friday nights.

About four months prior to their wedding, the couple will meet with their assigned coordinator. During their first meeting, they will review the wedding program and start to plan their vows, readings, music, etc. The coordinator will be providing a wedding prep form with ideas and suggestions for them to choose from.

The wedding coordinator will be at the church on the night of the rehearsal to familiarize them with the wedding ceremony; where to stand, when to walk in, etc. They will also be present on the day of the wedding to ensure that everything runs smoothly, coordinating time with the musician, the pastor, the family of the wedding couple, and the wedding party.

As your date approaches, you will meet with your Pastor to finalize scripture readings and the service components. Bethel’s Wedding Manual provides suggestions for scripture readings and vows. You will also find information on fees, policies, and the wedding service outline. We look forward to making your wedding memorable, sacred, and joyful!

Wedding Music

Wedding Music

As is true of all worship, we gather to give praise and thanks to God, as family and friends gather to celebrate and bless your marriage. Everything in the ceremony points towards God – the readings, the sermon, and the music. Your wedding, in every sense, reflects the unique character of you as a couple, your interests, and your commitments all within the context of worship. The Minister of Liturgical Worship will help you select music that includes all of these aspects: everything played or sung in the Sanctuary from the prelude through the postlude.

The Minister of Liturgical Worship is happy to meet with you as needed, to help select music and answer any questions. They can also help with finding outside musicians, such as vocalists or string quartets, etc, but their fees and scheduling them are your direct responsibility. The use of pre-recorded music is generally not permitted. It’s highly recommended to reach out to the Minister of Liturgical Worship as soon as you have made the decision to have your wedding here at Bethel.

Meet Our Wedding Coordinators

Bethel currently has two Wedding Coordinators to assist with our wedding couples; they are Bethel members Amanda Frailing and Jeanne Hilton.
