Bethel Community Services Corporation (BCS) is the community social service arm of Bethel Lutheran Church. It exists as a separate non-profit entity in order to assist and develop services to children at risk, single mothers and hungry families. Using a faith based approach, BCS supports:
Bethel Homeless Support Services strives to build meaningful relationships with homeless and at-risk individuals while fostering a safe, supportive, and accepting community that honors the dignity and self-respect of every person.
Bethel Lutheran Church is in partnership (through the ELCA Division for Outreach) with two congregations beyond the Madison area:
Hephatha Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, WI. Hephatha Lutheran is a vital inner city church serving its members (primarily Afro-American) and the surrounding community. Pastor Mary Martha offers programs including a work program for youth (which gives them a small income, some work experience, and an employment reference), assistance to those recently released from prison, and hope and counseling to her membership. Pr. Mary Martha is sensitive to the pulse of the neighborhood and helps the residents survive in a difficult world.
The Hmong Ministry and the Hispanic Ministry at Ascension Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, WI. Ascension Lutheran Church is located in the center of the city of Milwaukee. Three congregations worship in three different languages. . . Hmong, Spanish, and English. Bethel supports the Hmong and Hispanic ministries.
Bethel Lutheran Church is a community of people with a wide range of interests and skills. We welcome the ability to partner with our friends & families to provide services to, not only our campus and congregation, but our surrounding neighbors as well.
Volunteer opportunities can be found by contacting your favorite Bethel staff member and offering your talents, by completing your myBethel ‘Serving’ information, or by selecting from our ever changing menu of volunteer positions. Short-term and long-term commitments are available and helping hands of all ages are welcome.
