Overview

BETHEL HORIZONS

Bethel Horizons is located on more than 548 acres bordering Governor Dodge State Park. Our mission is to develop and perpetuate a physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual environment which will strengthen and enhance the understanding of a person’s proper relation to nature, to self, to others and to God. Horizons also offers meals and overnight accommodations for those attending our programs.

Bethel Horizons Retreat Centers

The Bethel Horizons retreat centers (Prairie Center, Barn Retreat Center, Farm House and Art Ventures Retreat Center) are open year-round for youth and adult retreats, conferences and meetings. A sample of user groups include confirmation retreats, family gatherings, quilters, and environmental education workshops.

Adamah Clay Studio

Adamah Art Studios is an art education center focusing on fine art with a specialization in ceramics. The art campus is composed of a year-round clay studio, a summer studio, an Anagama wood kiln and a retreat center with dining hall and lodging. We offer state-of-the-art facilities and award-winning instructors. 

Our year-round workshop schedule offers instruction for beginner through professional levels.  Our educational workshops are secular and open to everyone!

Environmental Education Programs

Bethel Horizons Nature Center provides hands-on environmental education programs that focus on increased knowledge, appreciation, and respect for ourselves, others and the natural world. Its 548 acres of prairie, forest, cliff and wetland habitats located in Wisconsin’s un-glaciated “driftless area” provide a unique opportunity for exploring God’s creation.

Our History
Established 1969

History of Bethel Horizons

Bethel Horizons Foundation, Inc. came into existence in May of 1969 as it was incorporated in the State of Wisconsin as a 501 c 3 organization. The initial land purchase included a 280 acre farm of Marvin Halverson. In addition, 160 acres was purchased from Lester and Mildred Anderson resulting in a 440 acre campsite. In 1970, the board of directors entered into an agreement with a master planner, Harrison and Associates of Nevada, Iowa.

Friends of Horizons!
Volunteers Needed!

The Friends of Horizons is a group of people who assist with projects which assist the programs of Bethel Horizons. Activities take place at Bethel Horizons, Bethel Lutheran Church and at Willow Island near the Alliant Center. A board of eight people give direction to the work projects.

Each year, Bethel and Community Members provide monetary support for the Bethel Horizons scholarship fund. Camper scholarships are given to over 350 low income families in Dane County and provide a week at camp at Bethel Horizons.
