LARGER GROUPS
Bethel's Women's Ministry consists of groups geared for the needs and interests of women and are open to all women. This ministry is overseen by the Women's Coordinating Council which seeks to represent all women and groups such as the 20 women's Circles, Mom's Club, Church Ladies, Lydia's House, and Bethel BookWomen. It is also a link to the South Central Synodical Wisconsin Women's Organization, as well as to the Women of the ELCA. The purpose of the Council is to share information about projects, programs, and missions and to share concerns of the women of the church. The women's groups support missions throughout the Madison community and the world.
Staff Contact:A Bethel Circle is a group of women who meet once a month in private homes (or at a time/location of each group's choosing) for the purpose of Bible study, fellowship and snacks/dessert. The Bible study is often taken from the Lutheran Women Today magazine, but other resources may be used as well. Each Circle decides whether or not to support a particular mission. Offerings national or regional ELCA organizations, by making blankets, or putting together health kits, school kits, and/or layettes. Bethel mission choices are also available.
Christian Men's Fellowship is for men who are retired. It meets the first and third Tuesdays, September to June. Coffee fellowship starts at 10:30, with devotions and program at 11:00 and a light lunch at noon. Contact: bethel@bethel-madison.org
The Bethel Friendship Club is open to members and non-members. This group is for couples or singles who are 50+. Monthly cost dinners and programs are held on Friday evenings.
The PrimeTimers group was started to help members become better acquainted by providing fellowship opportunities for Bethel couples and singles. This group has focused on members 50 to 70 years old but welcomes members of all ages. Our mission is to get to know one another better as members of the Christian faith and Bethel family, to lift one another up during the joyful times, as well as times in need.
SMALLER GROUPS
Bethel Camera Club meets monthly on Monday evenings, September to May, and offers informational programs on digital photography and other current topics. Bethel Singles is "a community of singles at Bethel Lutheran Church sharing spiritual, social and service activities in a caring, welcoming environment." Bethel Singles is open to all singles. Membership in Bethel Lutheran Church is not required. We welcome visitors and new friends. Bethel Singles contact: bethel@bethel-madison.org for more information or get on the email list.
Current Christian Concerns is a discussion group for men which meets at Bethel each Thursday morning at 7:00 am. to discuss topics from stem cell research to foreign policy (and all in between) within the context of Christian values. All are welcome.
