February 5, 2014 at 6:00 pm - Combat Veterans and Military Families Corner
Our nation's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been experienced not only on the battlefield; they reverberate inside Veterans' families and throughout our communities. More than 2.5 million men and women have deployed to and returned from these wars, half of them twice or more, since 2001. When they come home, many times the war comes with them. Save the date, Wednesday, February 5th at 6:00pm, when Bethel's own Connie Walker, retired Navy captain and founding member of NAMI's National Veterans and Military Council, will discuss recovery and reintegration issues facing 21st century combat Veterans and their families; the invisible wounds of war; the impact being felt by families and communities in this modern age of war; and outreach by faith communities to better connect with and support those who have served.
